Ignatz Nominations 2011

The Center for Cartoon Studies is happy to announce that three of our auspicious alumni have been nominated for Ignatz Awards!  We have a long and proud history of Ignatz nominations for our faculty and students such as Alec Longstreth, James Sturm, Gabby Schulz (aka Ken Dahl) and Charles Forsman.

In the category of Outstanding Mini-Comic, Laura Terry‘s Morning Song is a contender with the likes of Box Brown and Edie Fake. She self-publishes all of her own beautiful books (but probably not for long).

Annie Murphy has received a nomination for Outstanding Anthology/Collection for Gay Genius, a recent publication she edited and published with the help of Kickstarter and Sparkplug Comics.

Joe Lambert has been nominated in a number of categories for his most recent release I Will Bite You published by the fantastic Secret Acres. He will be head to head with Annie Murphy in the Outstanding Anthology/Collection category but is also up for Outstanding Artist.

Voting for the Ignatz takes place at the Small Press Expo (SPX) this September  in Bethesda, Maryland, and ballots are available upon entrance. We wish everyone luck on the Ignatz Awards and hope you check out these CCS works now or swing by their tables at the convention.
