Inventions

W. Heath Robinson
Comic by W. Heath Robinson depicting a Cat Burglar's Training Module
W. Heath Robinson (1872-1944) created humor where there was often none in the dusty clouds of the two World Wars. Seen as the British contemporary of Rube Goldberg, his ‘inventions’ are often complicated works to perform a simple task whether for military or domestic purposes. His lines are effortless and gently toned characters possess an air of sophistication and class no matter how devious their deeds.

The unassuming collection resides in its sienna binding amongst the flashier gag comic books but Robinson’s ability to twist our world just a few degrees endears itself to his readers.
