Nursery Rhyme Comics Time

This week, First Second released the Nursery Rhyme Comics book featuring 50 artists telling 50 tales of mirth, merriment and COMICS. Editor Chris Duffy put this magical book together and we are sure it is one for ages. Nursery Rhyme Comics has already made the Observer’s Very Short List with an excellent Venn diagram. Duffy is a past and current thesis advisor at CCS and the book is littered with excellent comics made by CCS alumni!

Mo Oh (CCS ’10) attacks the great Mockingbird rhyme: Hush, Little Baby with a world-weary toddler and eager-to-please adult. She said, “Nursery Rhyme Comics was a fun and exciting experience. I’m honored to have been a part of it. UGH, that’s so formal but its true!”

Lucy Knisley (CCS ’09) hits us with rock take on “There Was an Old Woman Who Lived In a Shoe.”

With work from other alumni like Andrew Arnold, J.P. Coovert, Alexis Frederick-Frost and professor cartoonist James Sturm mixed in with the ineffable Laura Park, Roz Chast and Aaron Renier, this book is sure to grace child-high bookshelves for years to come.
