David Berona

On May 25, 2015, David Berona died. David was a beloved friend, advisor, and teacher, and The Center for Cartoon Studies was lucky to have him so involved with the school. David helped get the Schulz Library up and running and continued to share his vast knowledge, mentoring many CCS librarians, as a member of the Schulz Library advisory board.

As a scholar on wordless and woodcut novels, David was an annual guest lecturer at CCS. David believed in the significance and relevance of wordless stories, and the growing importance of visual narratives in all cultures.  His book, Wordless Books: The Original Graphic Novels, is a classic. David was the Dean of Library and Academic Support Services at Plymouth State University. He will be missed by the CCS community.
