Although a few months early, this year’s Will Eisner Week is the perfect time to celebrate The Spirit’s 75th birthday (with a badly photoshopped cake)!
The Spirit, Eisner’s masked crimefighting detective, first appeared in newspapers on June 2nd, 1940. Eisner was only 23 at the time. Throughout its syndication, he collaborated with several well known cartoonists – Jules Feiffer, Wally Wood, Joe Kubert, and Lou Fine, to name a few.
Here at The Schulz Library, you can celebrate Will Eisner Week and The Spirit’s 75th birthday by checking out our collection of The Spirit Archives.

Check back tomorrow for our final Eisner Week post!
