In addition to his work on The Spirit and his graphic novels, Will Eisner was notable for playing a role in the careers of a number of great cartoonists. Early in his career, Eisner formed one of the first “comic book packaging studios” with Jerry Iger.
In this capacity, Eisner shepherded early work by luminaries such as Bob Powell, Mort Meskin, Lou Fine, and Jack Kirby into the field.

Later, when working on The Spirit, Eisner employed a team of talented assistants including Jules Feiffer, Jack Cole, and Wally Wood.

A quick look through the works of this diverse group of cartoonists shows that beyond his considerable skill as a cartoonist, Eisner had a great eye for talent!
